Purdue women's basketball report: 2026 in-state target "keeping my options open", scholarship offers and more
One of the state's best players, Brooklyn Renn from Silver Creek, remains a top prospect for several college programs
Brooklyn Renn is just as comfortable on the perimeter as the 6-foot-3 senior-to-be is playing inside.
It speaks to Renn’s versatility and personal development that she has made an impact at different positions. That’s why the star at Silver Creek is one of the top prospects in the 2026 class.
Katie Gearlds and Purdue remain in the running for Renn, whose cousin, Trey Kaufman-Renn, is a standout for coach Matt Painter’s team.
“I'm keeping my options open and looking to take visits in August,” Renn, who is part of the Indiana Junior All-Star, which played Sunday in Charlestown against the Kentucky Juniors and will face off against the Indiana All-Star team on Wednesday at Greenfield.
Renn took an unofficial visit to Purdue last fall.
Renn likes what Gearlds has done at Purdue with the “female-led leadership. I think that’s amazing, and the girls respect her, which is awesome. She just lifts the girls up.”
Her offer list is long, and includes the Boilermakers, Louisville, West Virginia, Maryland, Clemson, California, and Butler. Renn averaged 18.6 points and 10 rebounds as a junior at Silver Creek.
The ability to play inside and outside is what makes Renn’s skill set appealing.
“When I was younger, I was mainly inside, but as I got older, I knew that I could be a generational player if I built my outside game,” she said. “I definitely started focusing on that the past two years, and getting that under control.”
As her game expanded on the perimeter, Renn needed to work on her ball handling. She’s made significant strides in that department.
“I'd say my ball handling really took a turn in advancement this past year because I've focused on it more,” Renn said. “When I work out, I focus on ball handling because that’s something I need to get better at if I’m going to continue to improve.”
Renn said her cousin, Trey, who is set to begin his senior season with the Boilermakers, has helped during the recruiting process.
“He’s been a leader to me,” she said. “He’s really helping me, not with my decision, but how to handle all of this.”
He has also helped Renn on the court.
“We play one-on-one all the time and it’s really fun,” she said.
